After studying IT with a specialization in software engineering at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven, Indy rolled into the Oracle world by chance. Indy became more and more familiar with the various Oracle systems and became more and more enthusiastic. "A lot of companies use Oracle systems. I wanted to make a solid choice and decided I wanted to specialize further in Oracle," Indy explains.
Working together on solutions
The job interview at ICT Group went very well and there was a click from both sides. Indy was able to start as a PLSQL developer right away. The work location in Barendrecht was also attractive to him, as were the primary and secondary employment conditions. "Moreover, the training opportunities within ICT Group appealed to me and the fact that you can set up your own workplace at home," says Indy.
"Oracle is still very big, precisely because you can do a lot with it."
After nine months at ICT Group, Indy notes that he has learned a lot. He also finds it of great value that team Oracle mainly works for industry, transport and logistics. "I come from office automation, but I find the translation to physical devices very interesting," he explains. "We do a lot of work for distribution centres and for the port of Rotterdam. I really like it when you can make complex things simple and work on solutions together with colleagues. Puzzling together just gives you a kick. Oracle has the APEX system, a low-code development platform that allows you to build scalable and secure business applications that can be deployed anywhere. And they're still innovating. The latest new database version has gone from a C version to an AI version. Oracle is still very big, precisely because you can do a lot with it."
"There is an inclusive atmosphere at ICT Group. I experience that as very pleasant"
Experienced colleagues
"Many of my closest colleagues are in a different phase of life, but I get along well with everyone," says Indy. "We work well together, form a close-knit team and also have fun together. Moreover, I can learn a lot from my experienced colleagues." In his work, Indy can be completely himself, he experiences. "There is an inclusive atmosphere at ICT Group. I experience that as very pleasant," says Indy. "Of course, I'm a bit of a young dog within team Oracle, I'm just starting out. But my input is appreciated, I notice. Also on a social level. I am curious about the person behind the colleague and I like it when we are connected in that way. Humor helps with that. If I can make my colleagues laugh on a regular basis, that makes me very happy too."
In the coming years, team Oracle will need new colleagues. "If you want to challenge yourself and come up with solutions to complex problems, come and talk to ICT Group's Oracle team," Indy calls on his peers.
